JoEllen Brydon
telephone: (705) 799-5153 JoEllen Brydon’s vibrant paintings recapture lost histories and preserve the stories that weave the fabric of a culture. She draws her material from day to day incidents and anecdotes that are passed along over the years from storyteller to teller, both in Ireland where her family originated and in her native, Canada. Brydon pays special attention in her work to the telling of the tale. Rich colours and intricate detail create a complex landscape in which these deceptively simple narratives unfold. Brydon’s paintings evoke a lush ambiance and transport us in a compelling fashion to the heart of the moments that matter. JoEllen Brydon has exhibited in the Peterborough area as well as Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Her work is in the collections of the Danish Consulate, the Art Bank of Canada and the Canadian Museum of Civilisation. She lives and works in the village of Mount Pleasant, near Peterborough, Ontario Canada.
