Don A. Frache

Don A. Frache was born during 1919 in Grand Forks, British Columbia. Frache was a notable landscape and indigenous portrait artist of the 20th century. He often portrayed well-lit rural, prairie scenes in distant fields with a few trains transporting long boxes of cargo across the country. His scenes are historically realist in the detailed brushstrokes of the oil paint. His portraits are quite different in the way he treats Canadian landscapes. In fact, his style embarks on a washed out background where the portrait of his subjects are painted prominently in colourful depictions.
