Julius Gyula Marosan

Julius (Gyula) Marosán (1915-2003) was a Hungarian painter, sculptor and graphic artist. Born in Budapest, Marosán studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Vilmos Abe-Novak, and held his first show in 1935 at the Ernst Museum, Budapest. Profoundly effected by his first-hand experience of the Hungarian Revolution, his modern drawings of the historical earned him recognition as a professional artist. In 1957, Marosán emigrated to Canada and held his first Canadian solo show the following year at the Park Gallery, Toronto. A folio of his calligraphic line drawings was published by the Association of Hungarian Freedom Fighters.
