Born: Winnipeg, Manitoba, 1948. Michael Poulton works in a variety of mediums. His interests include exotic landscapes, science, philosophy and esoteric religion. He has had 13 solo exhibitions, as well as numerous group shows in North America and his work is in collections in Canada and abroad. His collages and copper work have both been reproduced in The Sciences, the journal of the New York Academy of Science. His dry-point prints have won national awards. In addition he has collaborated on large scale architectural glass and public art projects both in Canada and the United Kingdom. He is the recipient of 10 design awards from the Ontario Association of Art Galleries for designs of gallery catalogues, posters, and books on art, and been a juror for the Ontario Arts Council, Design Arts Awards. He has also written on issues of art and aesthetics and, most recently, lectured on drawing at Nipissing University. In 1986 he co-founded The Museum of Temporary Art, a not for profit artist run centre, which hosts artistic events in an unusual setting. Recent projects as of June '99, include: A series of copper repoussé dealing with relationships, entitled Human Sexual Response and Other Abstract Ideas. Currently on exhibition at the C.D. Howe Institute,Toronto. A collaboration with Amber Hiscott for three sandblasted glass windows at the Egypt Centre, Swansea University, Wales. Poster and catalogue design for the exhibition "Six voix / Six Voices" at the Centre international du vitrail, Chartres, France, and the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, Waterloo.
